The Narcotics Control Bureau carried out an operation to trace the main suspect of Operasi Jackal, Mohammad Mahadi Bin Haji Suhaili. As a result of the monitoring carried out, the main suspect who was in hiding was successfully apprehended during an operation on the 21st of March 2023.
During the operation, the main suspect tried to escape but was successfully arrested after being surrounded by the Narcotics Control Bureau outside a house in Kampung Lupak Luas, Mukim Lumapas. By Court Order, Mohammad Mahadi was remanded for investigation under the Drug Abuse Act, Chapter 27. Top date, Operasi Jackal has arrested seven local citizens and seized 1.078 kilogrammes of syabu and 182.63 grams of marijuana.
Two of the people arrested will be investigated under Section 3A of the Drug Abuse Act, Chapter 27 for the offence of possessing a controlled drug for the purpose of distributing more than 100 grams of syabu and if convicted, can be sentenced to death by hanging. The Narcotics Control Bureau would like to remind the public that operations will continue to be carried out to protect the country’s community and residents from various security threats arising from criminal activities including drug crimes.
