The Department of Investigation and Traffic Control as well as Police Districts, the Royal Brunei Police Force RBPF in cooperation with the Land Transport Department, Royal Customs and Excise Department, Immigration and National Registration Department, Narcotics Control Bureau, Religious Enforcement Section conducted 'Ops Cegah' Road Blocks concurrently in the four districts starting on the 14 December 2018 until 30 December 2018.
Results from the overall operations in all districts have found that 437 offences were recorded by the Royal Brunei Police Force. 99 cases were recorded by the Land Transport Department, 6 cases recorded by the Royal Customs and Excise Department and one case recorded by the Narcotics Control Bureau. Meanwhile estimated number of vehicles routinely inspected was about 50 thousand.
The operation was conducted to ascertain the safety of road users as well as to prevent the occurrence of crimes. Besides that 'Stop & Search' and 'Stop & Talk' concepts were also been applied during the operation for the purpose of interaction, to build trust and joint approach with the community in an effort to effectively contain and deter crimes in the country.
Meanwhile weekly operation road blocks conducted by the Tutong Police Station, Tutong Police District issued 25 compound fines under the Road Traffic Offences Act. The operation was conducted at Kilometre 63 of the Muara/Tutong highway.
