Ops Panyap Targets Immigration Violations in Mukim Sengkurong

Mukim sengkurong: An Operasi Panyap was carried out, targeting a rental room in Mukim Sengkurong. The Panyap Operation was conducted by the Law Enforcement Division to enforce Acts and Regulations under the Department of Immigration and National Registration.

According to Radio Television Brunei, during the investigation, four foreign nationals were detained for overstaying in the country after their immigration passes expired. Meanwhile, under the Immigration Act, a Malaysian, Yunus Harianto bin Sutarno, was sentenced for three offences. The first offence was for overstaying after his immigration pass expired. The second and third offences were for possession of customs prohibited items. He was sentenced to 7 months in prison and 3 strokes of the cane for the first offence, a fine of 36,105 Brunei Dollars or 14 months in prison for the second offence, and for the third offence, a fine of 21,750 Brunei Dollars or 13 months in prison. The total sentence amounted to 7 months in prison and 3 strokes of the cane
, and a fine of 57,855 Brunei Dollars or 27 months in prison.

Meanwhile, Eni Rohyati, an Indonesian national, pleaded guilty to overstaying in the country after her immigration pass expired and was sentenced to 4 months imprisonment and an 800 Brunei Dollar fine. However, the individual failed to pay the fine, which was converted to one month in prison, bringing the total prison sentence to 5 months.
