Over 100 shuttle buses were provided to ensure the smooth-running of yesterday morning's National Day Anniversary Celebration. The shuttle bus service was an initiative of the National Day Celebration Transportation Working Committee. There were two pick up points namely at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kiarong and the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
As early as 5 in the morning, the shuttle buses were ready for passengers. RTB's crew took a closer look at the Pick-Up Point at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah and saw officers from the Land Transport Department ensuring the buses as well as drivers are in good condition before allowing passengers to board. The buses provided are not just for the performance participants, but also for the public wishing to watch the celebration. The buses not only provides comfort for the passengers, but also provide hand sanitizers for the passengers use. The Assistant Director of Land Transport as the Co-Secretary of the Transportation Working Committee in conjunction with the national day celebration in an interview stated that the shuttle bus service initiative is to reduce traffic congestion as well as smoothen the movement of the public specifically the field performance participants so that they will not be late.
A number of main roads towards the centre of the capital were closed for the celebration as early as six in the morning. In controlling the traffic and expediting travel, the Royal Brunei Police Force also played a vital role in supervising the entry of vehicles into the capital. Before the ceremony began until it ended, police personnel could still be seen carrying out their respective duties.
