In the first phase of the Design, Build, Operate and Maintain for the Modernisation and Redevelopment of the Muara Fish Landing Complex project, the Muara Port Company, MPC will inject over 14 million dollars worth of investment for the said project and assist in increasing the country's fisheries industry output by 2035. In an interview during the project's signing ceremony, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources explained the complex's modernisation project will generate over 200 job opportunities for locals.
Yang Berhormat said that by the consent of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism through the Department of Fisheries has tendered out for developers to modernise the Fish Landing Complex in Muara, and MPC was chosen to implement such project. MPC will begin commence work in January next year, and will inject 14 million dollars for the project's first phase. Yang Berhormat said this is a public–private partnership between the government and the private sector, and it is completed, it is expected to approximately 200 jobs for locals. The project will upgrade the complex for the purpose of unloading fishes from the sea and cages for sorting, processing and freezing. The minister added it will also provide facilities such as water, fuel and ice for ships. With these facilities, Yang Berhormat said it will assist in the Key Performance Indicator to increase the fisheries sector's output.
