It is hoped the National Service Programme (PKBN) will be able to build the potential of the youths and instil excellent qualities in them. During the Passing Out Parade of the 7th Intake of the PKBN yesterday, six trainees received awards of excellence in various fields. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to present the awards.
Upon arrival at the Parade Ground of the PKBN Training Camp in Batu Apoi, Temburong, His Majesty was greeted by Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Jammy ((pronounce as JIMMY)) bin Haji Muhd Shah Al-Islam, the Commissioner of Police, Major General Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Datin Paduka Doctor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Shortly after the arrival, His Majesty received the Royal Salute and inspected the Guard of Honour. The one hundred days programme involved 374 participants comprising 258 male and 116 female trainees.
The PKBN targets the participation of youths between the ages of 16 and 21 years. Its various activities are geared towards strengthening the trainees' endurance as well as mental, physical, and spiritual strength. The National Service Programme is a special identity and self-esteem building programme based on the Islamic Malay Monarchy, MIB concept.
With today's Passing Out Parade, the PKBN has produced two thousand and one hundred forty nine alumni. Enhancing the confidence, discipline and self-esteem of the young ones, the PKBN is the country's special National youth building programme which is the symbol of the country's identity and pride.
His Majesty then consented to bestow awards to the six best trainees. The Best Male Trainee in Parade was Awang Muhammad Iqhmal bin Haji Abdul Latif while Dayang Siti Nur Hazirah binti Zahari, was the Best Female Trainee in the same category.
Awang Muhammad Ihsanuddin bin Awang Haji Abdul Hakim and Dayang Edna Jessica Michelle binti Mosley were received the awards of Best Male and Best Female Trainees in Physical Training.
Ak Muhammad Al-Hafiz bin Pengiran Omarali, and Dayang Nurul Jannah binti Zainal, were the Overall Best Male and Female Trainees Overall.
To invoke Allah's blessings for the Passing Out Parade ceremony, Doa Selamat was read by Awang Abdul Qayum bin Haji Metussin, the PKBN Religious Officer.
PKBN recorded another chapter in its history this morning with the passing out of 374 trainees, which is the biggest intake so far. It is significant and clear evidence of the encouraging response it has received and of its success in achieving its objective.
