Government House, 15 Oct. – “Pol. Lt. Col. Thawee”, Minister of Justice, urges police to coordinate with Interpol to issue a red notice to arrest “Gen. Pisal” who fled the Tak Bai case, insists that the government will not remain indifferent.
Pol. Col. Thawee Sodsong, Minister of Justice, spoke about the case of a request for the police to issue a red notice to arrest Gen. Pisal Wattanawongkiri, a Pheu Thai Party-list MP in the Tak Bai case, saying that issuing a red notice is the duty of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), which is under the supervision of the Royal Thai Police. In principle, it falls under the category of a request for cooperation, which will be one channel for implementation.
I have also been following the Tak Bai case and I confirm that the government sympathizes with the people, so we are trying to bring them to justice and we encourage the officials who are working on this case because there are only 10 days left in the statute of limitations.
The Tak Bai case
is divided into two parts: the prosecutor indicted seven people and the court accepted the case against seven people. In both parts, one person’s name is duplicated. When an arrest warrant is issued, the state and police must bring the accused to court for prosecution. It is rare for citizens to exercise their right to sue the court themselves.
Pol. Col. Thawee said that cases in the southern border provinces are divided into two parts: security cases and cases unrelated to security. Since 2011 until now, there have been 7,878 security cases for which arrest warrants have been issued and more than 4,000 suspects have been arrested. The rest have not been arrested for various reasons, one of which is 1,678 cases of escape. Therefore, the government must increase the efficiency of arrests.
When asked if coordination with international police must be the responsibility of the police only, Pol. Col. Tawi said that there is a channel under the Criminal Cooperation Act and that coordination with international pol
ice is similar to the case of the arrest of Paeng Na Nod. -317.-Thai News Agency
