The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, MTIC, shared the latest developments on the policy update for the renewal of Vehicle and Driving Licenses in an effort to facilitate the public during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Since the registration of Domestic Runners first opened on Saturday, 2nd of October 2021, 4,451 domestic runners have registered and listed in the Directory on the MTIC website as of 6th of October 2021. The Ministry reminded registered domestic runners to adhere to Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs. This includes, each runner is required to conduct a weekly COVID-19 RT-PCR swab test at drive-thru swab centers to ensure they are negative for COVID-19 infection. Domestic runners must update the last date their respective swab tests every week via the MTIC website at www.mtic.gov.bn/registration, starting today.

The Land Transport Department, LTD informed that the Vehicle and Driving Licenses that are currently available are no longer in physical form, which is, they are no longer in the form of Vehicle License stickers and Driving License cards. LTD uses Short Messages, SMS as a replacement for Vehicle License stickers and Driving License cards. The SMS is a method of facilitating the public without having to wait for their Driving or Vehicle Licenses to be processed and received. Apart from SMS, online payment receipts as well as active vehicle insurance allow people who have not received their Driving or Vehicle Licenses to drive without being subject to enforcement action.

For the purpose of improvement, LTD informed on some changes to the content of the SMS to the applicants who have successfully renewed their vehicle or driving licenses starting on Friday, 8th of October 2021.

For applicants who have more than one Driving License Class, a SMS will be issued separately for each driving class.
