The recruitment of domestic helpers must not be more than one thousand five hundred dollars per person, is among the matter explained by the Minister of Home Affairs at the meeting session with members of the Legislative Council.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar explained that in order to help the public with the recruitment of domestic helpers, the Labour Department has opened tenders for employment agencies specifically for category A to obtain Operation Licences as employment agencies registered with the Labour Department. One of the main conditions stipulated is that the recruitment fee for domestic helpers must not be more than one thousand five hundred dollars per person. To-date, a number of companies have participated in the tenders which are reviewed by the Labour Department. The changes are hoped to reduce the charges imposed in Brunei Darussalam and is hoped to enhance service quality to customers.
A briefing on the main role and several developments made by the Ministry of Home Affairs with the organised main strategic core directed towards making a success of Wawasan 2035 was delivered by Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs. Apart from sharing about a number of changes implemented, in particular, for the Immigration Department, the briefing also touched on the ministry's efforts in monitoring several areas in the country, specifically, the rural areas. The meeting acts as a portrayal of understanding, solidarity and good cooperation between the government and people of Brunei Darussalam. The Legislative Council delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Ramli bin Haji Lahit as the Penghulu of Mukim Telisai. Also present were Awang Haji Mohammad Sunadi bin Haji Buntar and Awang Ajman bin Haji Meludin, Deputy Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
