Poultry Farm Output Needs To Be Targeted For the Export Market

The poultry farm output needs to be targeted for the export market and not merely to fulfil local market demand. The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism also urged entrepreneurs of the poultry industry to always practise 'Good Animal Husbandry Practices', or GAHP, to boost quality of farming and to create a highly productive and quality farm. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali Bin Apong in an interview while continuing his visit to the Indoor Chicken Coop, QAF Farm Sendirian Berhad at the Mungkom Agriculture Development Area, Kiudang in the Tutong district this morning also emphasised on the importance of the welfare of the animals in ensuring that their health is guaranteed. The assimilating of GAHP in managing the farm, according to Yang Berhormat, also emphasised on farm bio-security, well-being of farming and reducing environmental effect.

QAF Farm Sendirian Berhad, is actively in breeding chicken since 1999. The company also has a chick rearing farm at the Birau Agriculture Development Area. With an area of 65 hectares, the farm has 15 indoor chicken coops with the capacity of 30 thousand chicken per coop using the deep litter system method. Through the usage of indoor coop automatic system, the company has produced 2 point 4-8 million chickens or 3-thousand 728 metric tonnes last year.

After in operation for 18 years, apart from able to prevent livestock diseases, the usage of highly technology coop and efficient management of poultry, the company also contributes in further boosting the productivity. Towards answering the government's call for the entrepreneurs to be brave in penetrating the foreign market, the company is supporting the Ministry Primary Resources and Tourism's plan to export its commodity.
