Practising a Healthy Lifestyle reduce the risk of Stroke

 

The risk for each individual to suffer from stroke can be reduced by adopting a healthy lifestyle, carrying out a regular exercise and eating healthy foods. According to the World Stroke Organization, an estimated of 1 million cases of stroke that occur each year are linked to a lack of physical activity. This was among the matters shared by a Medical Officer from the ‘Brunei Neuroscience Stroke and Rehabilitation Centre’, BNSRC, ‘Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre’, PJSC. In this second special edition on stroke in conjunction with World Stroke Day which is celebrated every 29th of October, tonight’s News at Ten brings you a special report on ways to minimize the risk of having a stroke.

 

Just by carrying out 30-minutes of exercise five times a week, can reduce the risk of getting a stroke by 25 percent. Doctor Hazirah binti Shafri further explained the details of certain ways to lower the risk of having a stroke, including controlling blood pressure, practising a healthy and balanced diet, and doing physical activity.

 

Practising a healthy lifestyle is vital for the well-being and happiness of oneself, family and society. By following these advices, it will help to achieve the efforts towards healthy citizens.
