The Grand Assembly in conjunction with the country's 34th National Day will take place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital tomorrow morning. The country's citizens and residents are eagerly waiting for the event and both the Taman and the capital have been decorated for the auspicious occasion. Flags, banners and coloured lights adorn government and business premises as well as other buildings, streets and parks in Bandar Seri Begawan, acting as a clear announcement or declaration of what will take place tomorrow.
As the seconds tick by, preparations for the big day are not confined to rehearsals by the field performance participants. The relevant parties have decorated the capital and Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien to transform them into venues which exude a strong sense of patriotism and celebratory mood so that people can feel the excitement and joy of celebrating the National Day. Banners, large posters, billboards and flags put up at several vantage points send messages of the people's happiness, gratitude and solidarity. This year the National Day theme is "Menjayakan Wawasan Negara" which literally means accomplishing the Country's Vision. It is a call and reminder to young and old that it is their responsibility to uphold and accomplish Wawasan Negara 2035, because above all things, human resource is the most important for a country's peace, progress and prosperity. Equally important is that the country's future lies in the hands of future generations or in one word, "youths".
National Day Committees also continue to highlight the issue of cleanliness during the Grand Assembly. Garbage and recycling bins have placed at appropriate places to assist the public in disposing whatever waste or leftovers they wished to dispose of or throw away. At the height of the celebration and above all the excitement and joy, one should always remember to make the best use of all amenities provided.
At night, the capital exudes a colourful charm and beauty. Bandar Seri Begawan transforms into a sort of 'city of lights' as coloured neon's decorate main streets, roads as well as government and business premises. The beauty creeps into hearts and stirs emotions. This beautiful, peaceful and blessed country is ours. Allah is the Greatest. Allahu Akbar.
