The handing over of aid houses to the poor and destitute is a manifestation of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam government's care and attention, through the Brunei Islamic Religious Council, MUIB and the relevant government agencies, in providing a more comfortable living to those requiring assistance. Today, 3 residents from 3 different villages in the Brunei Muara district received certificates and keys to their respective aid houses.
The house presentation was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Paduka Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office. Also present was Awang Misle bin Haji Abd Karim, the Brunei Muara District Officer. The first recipient, Dayang Jemilah binti Tarib from Kampong Kapok, Muara received a stilt house. The construction of the house cost nearly 58 thousand dollars.
Awang Samsudin bin Haji Pandin from Kampong Putat, meanwhile, received a bungalow house, which cost more than 47 thousand dollars.
In Kampung Tanjong Nangka, Awang Halidi bin Haji Alim, received a stilt-type house which cost more than 73 thousand dollars. The construction of all the houses were borne out of the Brunei Islamic Religious Council's Tithe Money Collection allocation.
Meanwhile, in Kampong Bukit Panggal, Tutong district, Awang Haji Ismail bin Haji Muhd Said received assistance to extend his house kitchen, capital amounting to over 23 thousand dollars for his pepper business, and a pepper blender machine. The assistance was borne out of the Tithe Collection Allocation for the poor and destitute. The tithe distribution is hoped to alleviate the burden of the recipients.
