Eighteen babies were born in the country on 1st Muharram 1442 Hijrah. Yesterday morning, a Gift Presentation for the newborns was held in conjunction with the New Year 1442 Hijrah Celebration. In the Brunei Muara District, the function was held at the Dewan Multaqa, Ministry of Religious Affairs Annexe Building.
The presentation was officiated by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Second Minister of Defence as the Chairman of the Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB Board of Directors presenting the donation from TAIB; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohammad Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health and Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
Each infant received gifts in the form of newborn necessities and a religious book entitled ‘Panduan Menyambut Kelahiran’ from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and a ‘Simanja’ Account worth two hundred dollars as well as a gift from TAIB. Thirteen babies comprising 10 boys and 3 girls were born at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan. Meanwhile, Suri Seri Begawan Hospital in Kuala Belait recorded 5 births, two boys and three girls. No births were recorded at Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Hospital in the Temburong District.
