Presentation on Forest & Biodiversity

In the afternoon conference session on Forests, Forests and Biodiversity: Unveiling Its Economic Potential, Dr Nor Imtihan Binti Haji Abdul Razak, Permanent Secretary, Planning, Land Use And Environment, Ministry Of Development explained that forest remains a nature -based solution which is most effective for climate reduction as it is for climate adaptation.

She added, forest restoration not only restores ecological function but also accelerates the restoration of biodiversity. The presentation title Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy, enabled a firm policy on sustainable forest management and sustainable land use development is significant in conserving the country’s green ecological system.

Meanwhile, Dayang Noralinda Binti Haji Ibrahim, Director of Forestry in a presentation title Brunei Forestry Sector: In Supporting the Green Economy, among others, said the sector’s initiatives and programs supported the country’s green economy roadmap. For the respective sector the green economy has been enhanced as a strategy to improve human well-being and at the same time reduced environmental pollution.
