Members of the public specifically pedestrians can now use the Pedestrian Bridge that connects the Royal Wharf and Jalan Residency in Bandar Seri Begawan. With the construction of the bridge, it will further expand the space for the public to carry out recreational activities at the brink of Brunei River and will give Bandar Seri Begawan a new look and would have the potential to attract many visitors, not only the locals but also tourists from other countries.
The bridge was officially launched this morning by Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Permanent Secretary for Technical and Professional at the Ministry of Development. The construction of the pedestrian bridge was under the Jalan Residency Expansion Project which was completed and in operation on the 14th May this year. The 8 metres wide bridge lays 80 metres long across Sungai Kianggeh.
The construction of the bridge is to connect the Royal Wharf with Jalan Residency and completing a 3 kilometres long pedestrian walkways which begin from the Taman Mahkota Jubli Emas until the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha Bridge. It will be able to generate the country's economic growth.
