More than 80 students from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam – accompanied by their teachers, parents and guardians – visited the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Museum at the Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.
Upon arrival, the group was welcomed by the museum’s staff who were led by a spokesman from the Ministry of Defence, Major Mohammad Kassim.
He gave a safety briefing before proceeding on with a guided tour of the galleries depicting Brunei military’s formative years. The tour showcased various types of transportation, old uniforms and tools that were used in the armed forces.
At the end of the visit, the group presented a token of appreciation to a representative of the museum for showing its support to the Pusat Ehsan Community Awareness Programme. The centre continues to provide enriching learning experiences for its special needs students through relevant exposure.
By doing so, it helps them make sense of the world around them so that they can learn to adapt to new experiences. Such exposure would enable them to better interact with the rest of the community. Major Mohammad Kassim highlighted that the general public are welcome to visit the museum.
The museum is closed on Mondays and Saturdays with visiting hours from 8am to 12.30pm and 2pm until 5pm from Tuesday and Thursdays, while Sunday’s starts from 2pm5pm.
On Wednesday the museum is only open in the afternoon from 2pm until 5pm. It is closed for Friday prayers from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
