Raise Awareness on Ear, Hearing Issues

Hearing problems in the country is still at a moderate level, though there are cases where a person's hearing problems have worsened when they are seeking treatment. Therefore, through the Ear Examination and Hearing Test Campaign that is held until today, the 4th of March, issues pertaining to ear and hearing problems as well as measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of hearing impairment, can be tackled.

According to the Special Grade Nursing Officer at the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, such a campaign can also help parents and guardians to detect their child's hearing problem. Members of the public are encouraged to take this opportunity and learn more on the causes of hearing loss.

Meanwhile, the Senior Audiology Officer and Deputy Head of Audiology explained that hearing problems can be detected at birth, adding that every age group has a risk of experiencing hearing problems due to various issues.

With the theme 'Hearing Care for All', the campaign offers ear examination services as well as hearing consultation aside from exhibitions and quizzes. The campaign is held in conjunction with the World Hearing Day 2021 that is conducted by the Otorhinolaryngology Department, Ministry of Health at the Berakas Health Centre and the Rimba Health Clinic.
