The reading of Tahlil is not solely intended to seek blessing from Allah the Almighty for those who have departed, it is also a symbol of respect and remembrance for all the good deeds that have been performed by them throughout their life. Yesterday morning, over 280 officers and staff of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the departments under it took part in the reading of Surah Yasin and tahlil for the late parents of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit. The ceremony took place at the Royal Mausoleum in the capital.
The delegation was led by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doktor Haji Awang Abu Bakar Bin Haji Apong, Minister of Home Affairs. The reading of Surah Yassin and tahlil was led by Awang Haji Malik bin Haji Jumat, Mosque Affairs Officer. Such a ceremony is one of the ministry’s annual activity to further glorify the holy month of Ramadhan to earn multitude of blessings. Also present were members of the Legislative Council, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, the ministry’s officers and staff as well as Penghulu Mukim and village chiefs from four districts.
