Brunei Darussalam and Thailand have enjoyed close ties in every aspect, both at the bilateral level and under the ASEAN framework. The armed forces conduct frequent and regular exchanges, not only at the top level but also between the staff and military cadets. According to the Defence Attache of Royal Thai Embassy, such activities help to increase the good understanding and trust between the two nations as well as for building capacities in confronting challenges such as disaster relief, climate change, food security and ensuring maritime safety. Colonel Nopadej Pansri, was speaking at a reception in conjunction with the Royal Thai Armed Forces Day last night.
Present was Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Her Excellency Wanthanee Viputwongsakul, Ambassador of The Kingdom of The Thailand to Brunei Darussalam. Colonel Pansri in his remarks added that the Royal Thai Armed Forces plays an important role as social director to maintain peaceful environment in the country and in supporting the national development efforts particularly in improving the quality of life of the people in the remote areas. The force has been an active contributor to international peace and security through United Nations' peacekeeping and humanitarian roles.
