They will also be blessed and successful. Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports made the remarks during the launch of the Riadah Ria 2.0 Programme yesterday morning.
Prior to the walkathon, a warming up session was held outside the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Tutong Town. Government agencies, youths and the Mosque’s Takmir Committee members took part in the activity. The Riadah 2.0 Programme was organised by the Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque Youth Group, Ibadur Rahman with the cooperation of the mosque’s Takmir Committee.
The walkathon started and ended at the mosque with male participants walking a distance of three kilometres while their female counterparts covered 2 kilometres. The aim of the programme was to raise awareness on the importance of maintaining health through sports or recreation.
The programme also aimed to transform the mosque into a centre of learning or education and social activities in line with its role as a community centre during the early era of Islam. There was also an exhibition by several government agencies and non-government agencies including the Religious Affairs Department, Community Development Department, Tutong Senior Citizens Activities Centre, the Family Advisory Service and Brunei Darussalam Aids Council.
