Richard Mille Brunei Championships

His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, yesterday afternoon officiated the Richard Mille Brunei Championships. Also present was His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien. The function took place at the Royal Berkshire, Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club in Jerudong.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Hakeem ibni His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah, the Organizer of the event; Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports; and Awang Haji Mohammad Junaidi bin Pehin Orang Kaya Digadong Seri Diraja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Abdul Rahman, Chairman of the Organising Committee.

In his welcoming address, the Chairman of the Organising Committee expressed his deepest appreciation to the promoter, sponsors, government ministries and agencies for their support and involvement in the championship.

His Royal Highness then officiated the opening of the 'Richard Mille Brunei Championships'.

His Royal Highness received a Pasambah from the Chairman of the Organising Committee.

120 players from 20 countries are participating in the championship. Brunei Darussalam is represented by nine players which consists of five professionals and four amateurs. One of the local professional participants is Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Muda Abdul Hakeem. Golf is one of the products under the Tourism Development Department's strategy to attract more golfers from all over the world to discover the value and experience of golfing in Brunei Darussalam. Various Golfing Memorabilia are on display throughout the tournament week. People are invited to bid for any of the items and all proceeds will go to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans as well as Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajah Maryam.
