To enhance Road Traffic Accident statistics and analytics in the country through a new computerised road accident database system, the Centre for Transport Research, CfTR, of Universiti Teknologi Brunei, UTB, initiated a project entitled 'Road Accident Data Development and Enhancement', RADED. The project is funded by Brunei National Road Safety Council, MKKJR.
RADED is expected to be deployed this year. With the system in place, in-depth analysis can be conducted to support MKKJR to strategize road safety initiatives, understand road accident contributory factors; and evaluate effectiveness of existing programmes.
According to Doctor Tan Soon Jiaan, the Director of CfTR, the project aim to study and enhance the Road Traffic Accident, RTA data collection process, and to design a prototype, computerised RTA system in the country.
CfTR has conducted requirement analysis with MKKJR, Royal Brunei Police Force, Brunei Insurance and Takaful Association and other relevant stakeholders to understand current practices and new requirements. Currently, there is no centralised to record Road Traffic Accident statistics and data.
