Yesterday afternoon, the Syariah Courts, the National Judiciary Department also held a Sacrificial Rite Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidil Adha. The ceremony took place at the Tutong District Courts new building.
30 selected poor and destitute asnaf from Kampung Petani, Kampung Sengkarai and Kampung Penabai, Kuala Tutong received the distribution of sacrificial meat. This year, 4 buffaloes were sacrificed. The sacrificial meat were presented by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Awang Haji Salim bin Haji Besar, Syar’ie Chief Judge. The sacrificial rite is an act of religious deed that is very much demanded in Islam, especially for those who have excess wealth.
The Royal Brunei Police Force yesterday morning also held a Sacrificial Rite Ceremony in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidil Adha Celebration. The distribution of sacrificial meat was presented by Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohd Irwan bin Haji Hambali, Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force. 44 people participated in the sacrificial rite involving 6 cows and 2 goats. The ceremony held at the Police Headquarters Surau in Gadong was organised by the Islamic Religious Body of the Royal Brunei Police Force.
Meanwhile, the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers’ University College, KUPU SB also held the Ihya ‘Eid Al Adha Ceremony or Sacrificial Meat Distribution Ceremony to the university college students who are entitled to receive it. The distribution of sacrificial meat to 30 students was handed over by Doctor Haji Adanan bin Haji Basar, the Raes of KUPU SB. This year, two buffaloes and two goats were sacrificed. The ceremony was co-organised by the Student Affairs Division and the Student Association Council, KUPU SB.
