Seasonal Maximum Price throughout Ramadhan and Syawal

The Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, JPES, Ministry of Finance and Economy in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture and Agrifood, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has implemented the Seasonal Maximum Price on selected food necessities throughout Ramadhan and Syawal 1443 Hijrah.

The seasonal maximum price will be set for 2 months for 8 food categories. This is to control the price of selected food items specifically food necessities that are in high demand during the festive season. The initiative is also hoped to assist the country’s citizens and residents in their daily expenses particularly during the festivities, and is part of government efforts to address the current increase in food prices.

The full list of the items can be accessed at the PenggunaBijak application or website at www.deps.gov.bn. Businesses are advised to maintain healthy competition practices by offering competitive prices below the set ceiling price. Actions will be taken for any non-compliance to the Seasonal Maximum Price, where compound fine not exceeding one thousand dollars will be imposed, and maximum fine of $20,000 and 5 years imprisonment will be imposed for the next offence.
