The strength of the Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah aqidah amongst the Brunei Muslim community is the pillar of religious harmony and national well-being in Brunei Darussalam. Thus, the government of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam gives serious attention towards protecting the aqidah of the of the country's Muslim ummah. This was among the matters discussed in the working paper titled "Kekuatan Ahli Sunnah Wal Jama'ah Di Bawah Naungan Pemerintahan Cemerlang Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan dan Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam (1967-2018) or the Strength of the Ahli Sunnah wal Jama'ah under His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Excellent Reign, yesterday morning at the closing ceremony of SEKAPES 2018.
Present were Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and Awang Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Doctor Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal, Rector of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA, in his working paper, also explained the strategies and approaches carried out by the government of Brunei Darussalam, which is to equip the Muslim community with religious knowledge based on correct, sufficient and continuous Islamic teachings, either through formal or informal education.
The ceremony ran concurrently with the presentation of the resolution by Doktor Mikdar bin Rusdi, Senior Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Usuluddin, KUPU SB. In his presentation, a number of resolutions were produced throughout the seminar. Among them, the concept of balance in religion or wasatiyyah which is the basic concept of the Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah school of thought, which should be stressed upon, so that it will give a positive image on religion and the Muslim community in the world's eye and at the same time act as a barrier in tackling the religious extremist and liberal understanding movement. The Islamic Religious Education Curriculum, should also be applied with the Ahli Sunnah Waljama'ah understanding either at the primary, secondary or even higher education levels. The seminar resolution was handed over to the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.
