To enhance a closer relations as well as to boost solidarity and cooperation in carrying out charity works, a Senior Citizens Activity Centre called the Temburong Bestari Community Centre held a Semarak Kasih Ceremony in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The celebration jointly-organised by the Community Development Centre and Mukim Bokok Consultative Council was held at Mukim Bokok Community Hall in Kampung Rataie National Housing Scheme, Temburong District.
Present was Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Datin. The 8th Celebration among other things is a token of appreciation to senior citizens for their contribution to the society and a continuous care to their welfare.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports during an interview with RTB explained that the Bestari Community Centre located at the National Service Programme Training Camp in Kampung Batu Apoi is only for temporary. The Ministry is planning to move the Bestari centre to a permanent location. Yang Berhormat further explained that it is the ministry's hope that the senior citizens will remain active not only from social aspect but also in various aspects including, community, national development, activities that can unite senior citizens with young generations. The Minister also expressed hope that the senior citizens maturity and experience can be shared with the younger generation towards building a community group in realising the Wawasan 2035.
The celebration was enlivened with a presentation of marhaban by Dikir group from Kampung Rataie National Housing Scheme Mosque. During the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports also handed over Appreciation Souvenirs to two senior citizens and souvenirs to 20 other senior citizens. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu, Member of the Legislative Council; Dayang Saidah binti Haji Wahid @ Burut, Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Awang Abdul Ghani bin Haji Othman, Temburong District Officer.
