Before deliberating the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism's budget, the Council approved the Ministry of Education's budget amounting to 6 hundred and 95 million dollars. Meanwhile, for the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, more than 54 million dollars and a development budget amounting 5 million and 70 thousand dollars have been proposed for the 2018/2019 Financial Year. Presenting his Ministry's budget, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism underlined that the focus of the budget is in line with the Ministry's mission, which is "Accelerating the growth in output for primary resources and tourism sectors that will become a significant contributor to GDP growth by encouraging investment both domestic and foreign, and with emphasis on increasing productivity, the use of high technology and focusing on the export market."
Yang Berhormat said the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and departments under it will focus on efforts as follows. Firstly, increasing the output from the agriculture, fisheries and forestry industries. This is done by increasing productivity, the use of high technology and modern techniques, which not only focus on penetrating the local market, but also the export market. Secondly, increasing the number of tourist arrivals and the growth of services related to tourism in Brunei Darussalam, which can contribute significantly to the growth of GDP.
