In an effort to foster a long-term partnership and assist in training the students to develop their skills needed by the industry, the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with 10 companies' yesterday afternoon.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Awang Muhammad Saufi bin Haji Ibrahim, Acting Commissioner of Labour. Signing on behalf of IBTE was Doctor Haji MohdZambri bin Haji Sabli, Acting Director and Chief Executive Officer of IBTE and Doctor Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid, IBTE Principal Central. The companies are Millennium Restaurant; Mulia Hotel; Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam; Royal Brunei Catering SendirianBerhad; Royal Brunei Polo and Riding Club; Brunei Hotel; The Empire Hotel and Country Club; Rizqun International Hotel; Wafa Hotel, and Yi Yuan Ting Fine Dining Restaurant Li Gong. Currently, 143 students are enrolled under the NTec Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery and Services from the School of Hospitality and Tourism at the IBTE Sultan SaifulRijal Campus. The Dual-System Apprenticeship model at IBTE is carried out on a block release basis, in which the apprentices undergo a total of one year institution-based training during blocks one and three and a total of one year on-the-job training during blocks two and four.
