Songkok’ Making Well Received by Public

The making of ‘songkok’ produced by the differently-abled at Pusat Bahagia in Tutong District is one of the programmes included in the Skills and Entrepreneurship Training for the centre’s trainees. During Hari Raya Aidilfitri, the trend of booking and selling of the songkok is well received by the public.

The songkok, produced using velvet and taris fabric, is sold at reasonable prices. The process of making a songkok takes about one day to complete according to the competency of the trainees. The making of the songkok also takes into account the neatness as well as aspects of accuracy and comfort of the user in order to produce a songkok of high quality.

One of the instructors at the centre expressed hope that the training programme will provide guidance and improve basic creative skills training as well as foster an entrepreneurial spirit in producing independent and responsible differently-abled individuals who are able to contribute to society.
