Special Documentary in Conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration

In the 50 years of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's, reign over Brunei Darussalam, there has been numerous progress achieved in the physical developments enjoyed by all levels of the society, citizens and residents of the country. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Minister of Development, progress in physical developments include a comprehensive and directed national land use plan, which is the preparation of the Brunei Darussalam Master Plan 1978 - 2006 and the National Land Use Master Plan 2006 - 2025 which also covers the preparation of the District Plans for every district. The Minister of Development stated this in an exclusive through the Special Documentary in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee celebration of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Bahrin said among the main and vital social and physical infrastructure facilities that have and continue to be provided by His Majesty's government is the provision of affordable housing for low-income citizens through the housing scheme in phases under the National Housing Scheme and Landless Indigenous Citizens Housing Scheme. To date 28 thousand 679 houses have been constructed nationwide under the schemes. 18 thousand 840 housing units have been built in the Brunei Muara District, 6 thousand 585 in Belait District as well as 2 thousand 979 units and 635 units in Tutong and Temburong respectively. The Minister of Development also touched on the construction of highways and road networks throughout the country. 3 thousand and 49 kilometers of roads have been built to-date, connecting districts as well as urban and rural areas. 1 thousand 697 kilometers of roads have been built in Brunei Muara District, 678 kilometers in Belait District, 535 kilometers in Tutong and 139 Kilometers in Temburong. Aside from that, 22 flyovers have also been built in several areas requiring it, to reduce traffic congestion such as the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway, as well as those in Tungku, Berakas, Meragang, Mentiri, Bukit Beruang, Telanai and Jalan Pengiran Babu Raja.
