His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam then proceeded to view a special exhibition featuring the latest findings by University Brunei Darussalam, UBD.
His Majesty first took a closer look at the coupling of Plasmonics and Catalysis to form Plasmonics Catalysis technology which is capable of driving high energy chemical reactions for the purpose of green fuel production.
His Majesty then viewed the modified bamboo charcoal which was found to be capable of removing heavy metals from wastewater in a selective manner. Heavy metals could also be recovered from the charcoal to reuse and minimise environmental pollution.
Meanwhile, the green synthesis of metal oxides using plant extract holds many applications for biocompatible, cost effective and simple nanobiotechnology. This finding will be beneficial for improving many applications, such as optoelectronics and water splitting for hydrogen gas generation.
Before leaving, His Majesty took a group photo with the Convocation Committee members and received Junjung Ziarah. His Majesty's presence and support at UBD's Convocation were the source of inspiration to further improve and strengthen UBD's position as a higher education institution that is capable of competing at the international arena and can contribute to the country's development.
