More than 5 hundred 33 thousand one hundred 89 dollars were collected by the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund since its launch on the 9th of October 2018 until the 7th of January this year. This includes the amount of donations received yesterday.
Part of the proceeds have been channelled for the construction of temporary shelters, known as HUNTARA or temporary accommodations, through the project conducted by the ASEAN Centre of Coordination for Humanitarian Aid for Disaster Management. It will be used to construct 6 HUNTARA units, with each unit accommodating 12 families. The remainder of the proceeds will be used for the construction of the mosque or other necessary infrastructure.
Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs; and Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, as Co-advisors of the Sulawesi Disaster Humanitarian Fund, received the donations. The ceremony was held yesterday afternoon at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in Berakas.
Collections at mosques, suraus and religious halls throughout the country totalled more than one hundred thousand 3 hundred dollars. 5 thousand dollars was donated by DST Communications Sendirian Berhad; while over 75-thousand 7-hundred dollars were collected through the Short Messaging Service, SMS Brunei Prihatin via DST. The collection of S-M-S Brunei Prihatin through Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad totalled nearly 30-thousand dollars. Meanwhile, Universiti Brunei Darussalam, UBD, donated 2-thousand dollars. The contributions were handed over by the representatives of relevant agencies. Also present was Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Bahrom bin Pengiran Haji Bahar, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs, as Deputy Co-advisor of the fund.
The ceremony was followed by a meeting to close the fund chaired by Datin Paduka Doktor Hajah Norlila binti Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Jalil, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, as Co-Chairman of the fund.
