Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge

Following the opening of land borders, the Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge Management Committee co-chaired by the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and the Ministry of Development, reminds the public on the usage of the Bridge. The Ministry of Development through the Brunei Bridge Authority, BBA, Public Works Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the use of the bridge in general, with the assistance of stakeholder agencies in terms of enforcement, security and safety.

Permission for the usage of the bridge is limited to vehicles registered in Brunei Darussalam in Class 1, 3, 4 and 6 only. However, for commercial vehicles registered in this country in Class two and five, permission must be applied to the BBA for a “Bridge Use Permit”. Meanwhile, all classes of foreign registered vehicles are advised to use the authorised road which is the ASEAN Highway 150 or AH-150 which is commonly used at this time.

All users must to adhere to the speed limit of 100 kilometers per hour for normal vehicles and 80 kilometres per hour for commercial vehicles. The BBA will close the bridge at any time if necessary such as during uncertain weather conditions or any other matters that cause the bridge to be unusable.
