Sunat Sacrificial Rites Ceremony

After performing the Sunat ‘Idil Adha prayer, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam proceeded to the Sunat Sacrificial Ceremony for His Majesty and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam as well as His Majesty’s family in conjunction with the Hari Raya ‘Idil Adha Celebration. This year 176 cows and 14 goats were sacrificed. A part of the sacrificial meat was distributed to 15,357 of the country’s poor and destitute, single mothers and senior citizens. Only one goat was slaughtered in the ceremony held at the compound of Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. Also present were His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik; His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen; and His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

Upon arrival at the slaughtering ceremony site, His Majesty was welcomed by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs.

His Majesty consented to slaughter His Majesty’s sacrificial animal.

The Doa Selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti.

Meanwhile, the slaughtering of the rest of His Majesty and His Majesty’s family’s sacrificial animals was undertaken by two slaughtering centres namely Syarikat Mohammed Norfaidzal Haji Zainuddin dan Anak-Anak; and PDS Abattoir Sendirian Berhad. This year’s sacrificial meat will be distributed directly to the recipient’s home by the ceremony’s committee with assistance from youth volunteers of mosque, Da’wah, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as well as members of the Village Consultative Council.
