The sport of wushu in Brunei Darussalam recorded another achievement as the country will host the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championship. The Agreement for the Staging of the Championship was signed yesterday morning between the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Association and the Asian Wushu Federation. Earlier, 23 newly appointed members of the Brunei Darussalam Association Committee were sworn in and received their appointment letters in a ceremony held at the Rizqun International Hotel in Gadong.
The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The ceremony was followed by the signing of the appointment certificates by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and the new committee members. The function coincided with the Signing of the Agreement for the Staging of the 10th Asian Junior Wushu Championship between Mr. Chan Weng, Secretary-General of the Asian Wushu Federation and Mr. Lim Boon Hwa, President of the Brunei Darussalam Wushu Association. The championship is the biggest international wushu event organised by the country to-date and is expected to see 20 to 30 countries in the Asian region taking part in it.
