Hosting open house is a synonym platform practised by the Muslims in the country specifically in the month of Syawal to foster closer relations. Every Hari Raya festive season, the public will not miss the opportunity to host open house to entertain families, friends and neighbours.
For the children, grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren of Awang Haji Muhammad bin Haji Bakar from Kampung Tarap Bau, who is now residing in Kampung Tanah Jambu, Brunei Muara District, it is an annual tradition for the family to gather during the first day of Aidil Fitri.
Meanwhile for husband and wife, Awang Haji Mohd Zanai bin Haji Abd Rahman and Dayang Hajah Ramai@Rogayah binti Haji Ibrahim@Ali Ahmad at Kampung Sengkarai in Tutong District, the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration is more meaningful with the presence of their children, daughters or sons-in-law as well as their 61 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
The cheerful atmosphere during the open house is not complete with the presence of young children. With their colourful clothing, the sweet as well as cheerful voices of young children would enliven the gatherings further. The distribution of green envelope has also become part of the gathering ritual.
During an interview with RTB, two individuals shared the difference in preparation for Aidil Fitri in the past and now.
The Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration in the country is celebrated by various levels of community regardless of age and rank. It is hoped that this year's Aidil Fitri is celebrated well and become the turning point of our changes towards gaining Allah's pleasure aside from teaching us to be humble.
