Syazwanes Contractor Fined for Violating Environmental Laws

Tutong: The public, developers, and business premise owners are reminded to always maintain the cleanliness of the environment, especially at business premises and public areas. The reminder was made by the Enforcement Unit of the Tutong District Office after another company was fined for violating the Miscellaneous Offences Act 2021.

According to Radio Television Brunei, Syazwanes Contractor Sendirian Berhad was fined BND2,000 for piling and leaving rubbish at a riverbank stabilisation project site. The company was given 7 days to settle the fine or face court proceedings. If found guilty, the company is liable to a fine not less than BND2,000 and not exceeding BND10,000. For the second and subsequent offences, a fine not less than BND10,000 and not exceeding BND30,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months, or both will be imposed.
