Bandar seri begawan: The Symposium on Borneo Biodiversity, hosted by the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) in collaboration with the Faculty of Tropical Forestry, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), was held at UBD. This symposium marked a significant occasion in advancing tropical forestry and biodiversity research, facilitating stronger academic and research networking across Borneo.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the scholarly program covered a range of topics, including Brunei’s biodiversity, forest restoration, and peat swamp ecosystem recovery. Discussions also focused on sustainable ecotourism and innovative research into the bio-prospecting of Borneo’s natural products for medicinal use. The visit from UMS was important for building ongoing institutional partnerships and facilitating exchange programs between the two universities.
