To preserve and maintain the Islamic arts from extinction and to make Tausyeh as an effective medium of da'wah or religious propagation, the takmir committee of Kampung Piasau-Piasau Surau in Temburong District held a Tausyeh Competition yesterday. The competition - the first of its kind, was opened to the takmir committee, muslimah and youths from the mosques, surau and religious halls in the district.
The Nur Iman and Waezatul Faezah teamS from the Kampung Piasau-Piasau Surau emerged as champions in the male and female categories. An-Nuur and Khairunnisa from Kampung Belais Mosque came in second. While in third place was Mums team representing Utama Mohammad Salleh Mosque in Bangar Town and Nur-Imtiyaz from Kampung Selangan Mosque. Prizes were presented by Awang Haji Juffle bin Haji Mega, Head of Imarah Section of the Mosque Affairs Department. Awang Haji Mohammad Zin bin Haji Kulla, the Acting Imam of Kampung Piasau-Piasau Surau who is also the chairman of the event in an interview with RTB said among the objectives of the competition were to foster close relations among the takmir committees of the mosques, surau and religious halls in the Temburong district as well as in response to the Government's call to use Arabic language in daily life.
