Swafoto is the term in current Malay for 'selfie' photographs. Technically, selfies are not new because they have existed since earlier periods or eras, albeit in different ways. With the latest technology, selfies continue to highlight people's daily life, often reflecting the reality or truth. In this regard, swafoto or a selfie is considered a bonus for the individual because it can assist the person to reflect upon his or her personal life. Selfie was the highlight of the Tazkirah or religious talk during the 'Masjidku Makmur, Negara Berkat' at Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital this morning.
The dawn prayer congregants included Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Acting Minister of Religious Affairs, Awang Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang, the Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Awang Haji Roslan bin Haji Taja'ah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The talk titled "Swafoto Satu Bonus" was delivered by Awang Haji Fathi Foad bin Dato Seri Setia Haji Abu Bakar, a Religious Officer at the Islamic Da'wah Centre. Among other matters, the talk explained "selfie" or self-reflection could prevent vices and the wrath of Allah the Almighty. The bonus referred to blessings reaped during this lifetime as investments for the Hereafter.
