The 26th Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress

Brunei Darussalam is currently implementing several efforts under the National Land Transport Master Plan, LTMP, to address key issues and challenges in the public transport sector. The four key strategies have been identified in the LTMP for implementation namely: Reducing car dependency; Keeping traffic moving; Achieving sustainable society and strengthening governance.

The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications shared these matters while heading the Brunei Darussalam's contingent at the high-level policy roundtable during the 26th Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress, ITSWC, in the Republic of Singapore. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof further shared that in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035 in enhancing the quality of life, and with the inevitable coming of 5G, new technologies, will become one of the enabling factors to enhance the national transport system for greater mobility, reliability, inclusivity and sustainability for Brunei Darussalam. The 2-day congress ended today. Yang Berhormat alongside counterparts from Malaysia, Thailand, Estonia and Norway participated in the dialogue themed "Enhancing mobility in the 21st century."

Yang Berhormat also held a bilateral meeting with His Excellency Khaw Boon Wan, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport, Singapore. Both sides exchanged and shared views on transportation issues and initiatives to strengthen the bilateral relations in the field of transportation between the two countries. The bilateral meeting was also attended by His Excellency Haji Saifulbahri bin Haji Awang Mansor, the High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Singapore.

The Intelligent Transport Systems World Congress is an annual conference and trade show to promote ITS technologies. With the theme 'Smart Mobility, Empowering Cities', the congress is held to provide an integrated platform for international and regional policy makers, business leaders, industry experts and academia to engage in dialogues and knowledge on innovative, safe and intelligent transportation systems. This year's ITSWC is the first to be held in Singapore and participated by over 80 countries.
