The Country Is In Southwest Monsoon Season

The country is still in the Southwest Monsoon season which is expected to continue until end of the month or early October. According to the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department, BDMD, the southwest flow is dominant in the region with strong intensity.

The BDMD Observation Station yesterday recorded a wind speed of up to 30 kilometres per hour. The moist and unstable atmosphere has encouraged the formation of rain clouds since yesterday.

Dayang Nurulinani binti Jahari, Meteorological Officer said the BDMD Observation Station has recorded 46.44 millimetres of rainfall. Members of the public are advised to take note of the risk of flash floods especially at low lying and flood prone areas during heavy showers or thundershowers as well as the risk of falling trees during gusty condition. Mariners, the public and road users are advised to always be up to date and to take into account the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning before planning any activities and to take precaution and necessary actions to ensure safety.
