The first flight carrying 251 Brunei Darussalam intending haj pilgrims left the country at 8 yesterday morning. The flight to Madinah is expected to takes 10-hours. Brunei International Airport began to be flooded by the family members and friends since 5 in the morning.
The group using Royal Brunei aircraft BI4201 also included officers from the Haj Medical Office, Darussalam Holdings Sendirian Berhad, Syarikat Raudah Al-Amin Sendirian Berhad, Straits Central Agencies Sendirian Berhad, and At-Taqwa Travel Tours Sendirian Berhad. The doa selamat was read by Yang Dimuliakan Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Suhaili bin Haji Metali Al-Hafiz.
Present to bid farewell were Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and wife; Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohammad Yusof, Second Minister of Defence as Chairman of the Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei, TAIB Board of Directors; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Md Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health and wife.
The second haj flight is scheduled to depart on 19th July at 11 in the morning.
