The Literacy and Numeracy Coaching Programme, LNCP conducted by the Ministry of Education has impacted positively on schools academic performance. This is evident with the increasing percentage of passes in the Primary School Assessment, PSR last year. According to the Head of the Ministry of Education's LNCP, although the programme was introduced last year it was able to produce quality teaching and learning at schools as intended.
The benefits and advantages of the LNCP at schools with cooperation among school leaders, International and local coaches as well as teachers, including learning partners, enabled improvement in the teachers pedagogy practices through collaborations, observations, feedbacks and professional reflections. It also provides space to local coaches to be more focused in carrying out teaching and coaching tasks.
The Ministry of Education hopes the LNCP will produce local experts, enhance the quality of teachers and excellent students. Most importantly it would enable the country to achieve its target in education to be among the top 50 in the Programme for International Student Assessment, PISA 2018, simultaneously placing Brunei Darussalam in the same position as developed nations in the field of education.
