PUJA is also urged to tackle the issue of unemployment among the country's youths. The Minister of Development stated according to the 2017 statistics of the employers/employees census by the Labour Department, there are 25 thousand 211 workers in the construction industry alone. However, within the majority of the workers, 22 thousand 510 are foreigners, whereas only 2 thousand 141 are locals and 560 permanent residents. This ratio amounts to a total of 1 thousand 777 active business entities within the construction industry.
Yang Berhormat Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, member of the Legislative Council, who is also the President of PUJA underlined that PUJA has always worked in collaboration not just with Ministry of Development but also with other agencies especially in education, strategic partners and stakeholders to share knowledge and insights on construction-related issue, acts and regulations. The meeting ran concurrently with the launch of the PUJA Journal, Digital Continuous Professional Development, CPD, Management System and Online Payment Programme.
