Three outstanding students from Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School, Sufri Bolkiah Secondary School, Tutong and Pengiran Jaya Negara Pengiran Haji Abu Bakar Secondary School, Kuala Belait will represent the country in the "Asia Kakehashi" project in Japan. Throughout the project, the students will stay and study in Japan for eight months starting from next month. A farewell ceremony was held this morning for the students who received the scholarship sponsored by the Japan Government.
His Excellency Motohiko Kato, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the country in his speech expressed hope that the students will enjoy learning opportunities with Japanese students and at the same time learning the culture of the country.
Among the aims of Asia Kakehashi project is to build and strengthen the secondary school students network in Asia by providing opportunities to study and experience the education and culture in Japan for Asian students while nurturing the future leaders of Asia.
