Transition of 991 Ambulance Line System

The 991 ambulance line system under the Emergency Medical Ambulance Services or EMAS, ‘Emergency Medical Ambulance Services’ has moved to a new system starting the 12th of September. The Ministry of Health in its press release informs that the transition aims to accommodate the increasing number of calls to the service.

The transition to the new system uses the Call Management System CMS method provided by Datastream Digital, DST Sendirian Berhad. CMS allows 991 operators to receive calls systematically, track received calls, collect useful data, and implement actions and emergency deployment more efficiently. Aside from that, the capacity of receiving emergency calls to the 991 ambulance line will increase to thirty calls from the four districts at a time compared to the previous system. During the transition process, in the event of any technical problems, the public wishing to engage the 991 ambulance service may call the 995 Fire and Rescue Hotline for emergency services.
