The implementation of the twice monthly salary payments is extended to all permanent, contract, month-to-month, Open Vote and daily paid Civil Service employees starting June 2018. This includes uniformed personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, and the Royal Brunei Police Force. Officers and staff that are not involved are those from Statutory Bodies and Government Link Companies. However, Statutory Bodies and Government Link Companies can implement the initiative subject to the decision of their respective Boards.
In an interview during RTB’s Rampai Pagi programme yesterday morning, Doctor Hajah May Fa’ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Performance and Compliance at the Ministry of Finance explained that the aim of the twice monthly salary payments’ implementation is to improve the efficacy of government officers and staff cash flow management in catering for their daily needs, apart from facilitating family spending planning. The implementation also aims to assist in commercial and economic activities’ continuity within the country, apart from making the domestic economy more sustainable.
Meanwhile, Awang Haji Yusop bin Haji Mahmud, Acting Accountant-General at the Ministry of Finance in the interview said the implementation of the twice monthly salary payments receives support and cooperation from various financial institutions.
All involved officers and staff can receive precise information from the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance and refer to the said department for any complication or response through stipulated channels.
