Brunei Darussalam will participate in the week-long Mastera Writing Programme in Depok, West Java, Indonesia starting tomorrow. Two participants have been selected for the programme which is designed to provide guidance to young writers on literature writing in various genres including poetry, short stories, novels, dramas and essays. The programme all's gives the participants the opportunity and exposure on the situation and development of regional literature writing. Brunei Darussalam's delegation left yesterday afternoon.
Bidding farwell at Brunei International Airport was Doctor Haji Mohamad Ali bin Haji Radin, Head of the Literature and Magazine Section of the Language and Literature Bureau. The two participants are Dayang Zati Azra Fazriyah binti Haji Mohd, Hearing Studies Officer from the Audiology Unit of Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital and Dayang Liyana binti Awang Julay, Hassanal Bolkiah Boys Arabic Secondary School Teaching Staff. They were accompanied by Doctor Pudarno bin Binchin, a former Ethnography Curator of the Museums Department as the Mentor. The programme is among Mastera's annual activities since 1997. During the programme Literature experts and writers from the five Mastera member's countries are invited as Mentors, along with 4 to 5 participants from each member country. Before taking part in the programme they are will be mentored in workshops according to the specific genres.
